Chamber Announces 2007 Small Business Leader of the Year

The Jacksonville Regional Chamber of Commerce presented the prestigious Compass Bank Small Business Leader of the Year award at its 122th Annual Meeting held at the Hyatt Regency Jacksonville Riverfront last night.
This year's Small Business Leader of the Year is Joe Lemire of Elyk Innovations.
“It is an honor to be named the Chamber’s Small Business Leader for 2007,” Lemire said. “It’s really the end result of a great team effort. Our staff worked hard on the application process and many of our customers and peers contributed letters of endorsement – it all came together. This recognition is a nice addition to our company history.”
In 1999 Lemire launched Elyk Innovations, a Web design and development company, to help business owners understand how their Web sites and the Internet can be used to augment business success.
Elyk Innovations helps its clients determine the best way to use the Internet to market their business and then provides the necessary Web development and implementation. Elyk creates Web sites with the vision of bringing leads to a business, serving current clients and helping a business team increase productivity, improve performance and contribute to the growth of the company.
Prior to launching Elyk, Lemire had a thriving corporate career that required constant travel, but he wanted to become a more focused husband and father. His priority on family ended up materializing in his company’s name – Elyk is his son’s name “Kyle” spelled backwards.
Since its launch, Elyk Innovations has seen continuous profitable growth. Currently the company has 180 active clients.
“Joe’s creative style does not go unnoticed,” said Bob White, city president of Compass Bank, the award’s sponsor. “When he came to the Small Business Leader of the Year selection committee session, for example, he arrived in a limo. He also brought three members of his team. Joe knows that running a small business is fun – and he makes it fun for the people around him. He is known for creating a creative and enjoyable work environment and treating his employees with respect.”
